KODALINE "SOMETIMES" - MUSIC PROMO

PRODUCTION MANAGER

PromoNews Article:

Kodaline vocalist Steve Garrigan shows life through his perspective, in Mike Baldwin's intimate and canny video for Sometimes.

Utilising a SnorriCam rig, the camera is focused on Garrigan's face throughout his daily routine, from band practice, drinks in a crowded bar, a walk on London streets, and including the inevitable lower moments that we all suffer from. The focus on his face at all moments is representative of anxiety, and having expectations of who you should be and what you should be doing, because it feels as though someone is always keeping check.

Characteristic of many of Mike Baldwin's videos, this is simple in its concept, but turns out to be a very well-judged visual accompaniment to the powerful lyrics.

MIKE BALDWIN:

It's not the lightest bit of kit, but Steve managed to sail through the shoot without getting a hernia.

"There was initial talk in the brief of having a single shot video but I thought it would be great to have a single perspective instead.

"The track is about suffering anxiety in certain situations and I wanted to try and capture that feeling visually. Steve (the singer) was an absolute legend to put up with wearing the SnorriCam rig all day as it wasn't exactly the most comfortable or lightest bit of kit but he managed to sail through the shoot without getting a hernia."
